I loved Berlin. It is a fantastic city with lot's to do and see. I was so lucky to have a friend show me around. However if you went there on your own, you would have a great time. The trams and underground are easy enough to navigate. There is so much to to do there and see, regardless of where you end up, you'll find something cool. Besides there is schnitzel. Lot's of schnitzel. In fact some people eat schnitzel every day while they are in Berlin......

This is my friend Mariana.
I had a fantastic time staying with her in Berlin. We met a little over a year ago in Leeds England and have been friends since. Thank You Mariana for the terrific time!! This picture is on the way to her favorite irish pub. A short 15 mile walk...but thu a very nice parky area. This bridge was a popular hangout for folks playing music and doing art.(ok maybe it was not exactly 15 miles...)

This is a church that was bombed in the war.
All that is left of the church is the foyer. Make note of the building on the right. This is the new church, it looks very bland and sort of ugly from the outside so when you go in, it is really surprising.

Told ya, this is the inside of the new church.
Creepiest Jesus ever.Sorry but as beautiful as this church is, that statue is a little bizzarre.

Not that I am a size queen but that's a pretty big organ.
The pipe organ in the church was quite large, I would have really enjoyed hearing it played. maybe next time since I expect Berlin to be a place I go back too.

This is inside of the ruins of the old church.
They had a model of the city block before the bombing and after. There were some really extensive changes. This church looked huge and judging by what is left, it must have been so beautiful. It really brings to mind how in addition to the lives that are lost in war but also how much history and art fall victim to the violence.

More art from the church.
You can clearly see that even what was left is badly damaged, but still very beautiful.

There was a band playing in the square out side the churches.
I loved the matching shirts with the name of the band on the back. It did however make me wonder if they were planning to go bowling after the gig.
